The release of the buildable R2-D2 model earlier in 2024 was just the beginning. In May there is new exciting addition: the new brick-built Droideka model. This Droideka LEGO set commemorates the 25th anniversary of both LEGO Star Wars and Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Priced at $64.99, this set includes 583 pieces and is the latest to celebrate the prequel trilogy.

While this is a "brick built" set it has been said to include a significant amount of technic. So be prepared for some smaller pieces and potentially more complex building. The Droideka set comes in some sweet black box art and includes display stand and minifig.

The last time we saw this Star Wars icon in Lego was back in the early 2000s in the Technic set 8002 Destroyer Droid. THis new model will include additional bricks and transform into a roll up ball that can be "sorta" rolled around.

Set for release on May 1st, 2024, the 75381 Buildable Droideka offers a minifigure-scale version of the character. Although this model might not be the most impressive version to date, it adds a unique touch to any collection. As we approach Star Wars Day celebrations, I am curious to hear your thoughts. Are you excited about the new Droideka model?
