The most expensive Star Wars Lego set released in 2024 is the 75382 TIE Interceptor! One of the most requested UCS sets of all time this set is long overdue. The TIE Interceptor will join the Danish toy company's Star Wars Day Celebrations in May 2024. This set has been rumored since last summer.

75382 retails for $229.99 and a total of 1,931 pieces. The official release date is May 4th 2024. This set revisits an older UCS set back in the early 2000s, the 7181 TIE Interceptor. The original boosted a blue highlighted design with similar greebling. The newer UCS model has a more grey color scheme. The newer model also includes a rounder cockpit and much cleaner building techniques. The original set was one of the very first UCS sets ever made and the newer model shows how much the genre has grown.

This UCS set has 1,931 pieces and is  a brick-built model with limited technic pieces. The full model is over 40cm long with a little bit of stickers for the cockpit. The wings use some pretty standard building techniques with some unique connection pieces. This allows the wings to be large enough for the model while being stable and mobile. This model looks as fast as the Star Wars universe reality.

The stand for this model includes a minfigure for an exclusive TIE pilot and mouse Droid. The pilot looks right at home alongside the exceptionally well designed cockpit. Perhaps this set didn't need to be remade, or was remade too early? Was there another UCS set that deserved to be launched this year instead? Let me know how you feel about this release.
